Boom is a Bollywood film that was released on September 19, 2003. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Padma Lakshmi, Madhu Sapre, Katrina Kaif and Zeenat Aman. The film was a box office disaster and was panned by the critics. Contributing to its failure was the fact that the pirated copy of the movie was available in the market full 1 week before the release of the movie. The film is directed by Kaizad Gustad and produced by Jackie Shroff’s wife, Ayesha Shroff.

Kushi is a Tamil blockbuster of 2000, starring Vijay and Jyothika, in a career-making performance. The story opens in Calcutta where a boy is born to a wealthy couple, a Tamilian father and a Bengali mother. After many close-up shots of the woman in labour the camera shifts to a village in Tamil Nadu, where a baby girl Jennifer is born in a middle class Christian family. After some encounters when they are too young to be aware of each other, they finally meet in college in Madras. Though having feelings for each other, their own egos prevent themfrom expressing these feelings and finally even cause them to fight and split. But the need to unite another couple, whose union is being opposed by the girl’s father, forces them to work with each other.

Lagaan (English: land tax), also known as Lagaan: Once upon a time in India, is an award-winning film made in India, released on June 1, 2001. It became the second Bollywood film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film (after Mother India in 1957), though No Man’s Land won the award. The director, Ashutosh Gowariker, and the lead actor and producer, Aamir Khan, flew to Los Angeles to lobby for the film; they, and the film, attracted a great deal of free publicity. As a result, Lagaan was booked into many theaters worldwide, theaters that do not ordinarily show Indian films. This was for many Westerners the first opportunity to see a genuine Bollywood film in the local cinema.
